Uponor Pex - AquaPex (for water)
AQUAPEX is like no other plastic or metal tubing manufactured today. Uponor uses a process called the Engel Method, which cross links the molecules into a network structure. This cross-linking method provides superior strength plus chemical and high temperature/pressure resistance.

TracPipe (gas piping)

TracPipe is a flexible stainless steel piping material used for natural gas and propane installations. TracPipe is currently in use for gas piping systems in single and multi-family residential as well as commercial and industrial buildings. TracPipe's superior corrugated tubing coupled with AutoFlare fittings combine to make the best CSST product available. TracPipe's full range of sizes (3/8" to 2") and proven reliability make it the first choice at all residential, commercial, and industrial job sites.TracPipe is accepted throughout the US and Canada. It can be run through buildings in the same locations where rigid pipe materials have traditionally been used with a fraction of the threaded joints and in a fraction of the time required for installation. TracPipe was designed with inner diameters that are very close to black iron pipe.
DWV - ABS, PVC & Cast Iron
Common Drain, Waste & Venting materials include ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene), PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) and Cast Iron . Both ABS and PVC are plastic and Cast Iron is of course metal. Locally, ABS is the most common DWV material used. Some contractor use PVC instead because it is a little cheaper. Cast Iron pipe is used more in very custom homes, in cities such as San Francisco (fire related issues) and multiple story units for sound reduction. It is the quiet piping but, it is also the most expensive and hardest to install. Most clients locally will use ABS with Cast Iron risers (vertical pipe in the wall) for waste coming down from a bathroom for example, above. The room below might be a dining room or bedroom thus, Cast Iron offers significant noise reduction over ABS and PVC.
